The Firm offers legal services in areas of law such as breach of contract disputes, consumer protection litigation, consumer debt collection defense, access to public records, and many other federal and state laws. Below is a brief description of some legal issues that the Firm can assist you with.
Access to Public Records Laws. The Firm assists businesses and individuals in obtaining records from federal and state agencies. Federal law – i.e., the Freedom of Information Act – provides for access to records from participating federal agencies. In New Jersey, state statutes such as the Open Public Records Act and the Open Public Meetings Act provide for access to the records and minutes of meetings of many New Jersey governmental entities and agencies.
Assistance to Farmers in New Jersey. Several state statutes were enacted with the aim to provide assistance to the farmers and to help preserve agriculture in New Jersey, such as the Right to Farm Act (protects commercial farms), the Farm Land Assessment Act (provides property tax relief for farms of at least five acres who meet certain income requirements), and the Farmland Preservation Program (allows for sales of development easements).
Consumer Debt Collection Defense. The Firm offers assistance with defending consumer debt collections actions. Frequently, defenses such missing paperwork that proves ownership of the debt, wrong debtor/incorrect identity issues, inaccurate or incorrect amount of debt owed, statute of limitations, discharge of the debt in bankruptcy, etc. might be available. Federal statutes, such as the Federal Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act, regulate the means and the manner, in which the collection agencies and law firms may collect on consumer debts and report them to the consumer reporting agencies.
Internet Law and Privacy Issues. This is a broad and growing area of law, with issues ranging from data breach and identity theft to intellectual property issues and online defamation.
